Junior Cycle for present 3rd years –
English, Business Studies and Science are being studied using the new Specifications.
All other subjects continue as before.
Junior Cycle for present 2nd years – English, Business Studies, Science, Gaeilge, French, German and Visual Arts are being studied using the new Specifications
Junior Cycle for present 1st years – All subjects except Religion and Technical Graphics are being studied using the new specifications.
A new area of study has been introduced – Wellbeing – This is an area of learning consisting of Social, Personal and Health Education (S.P.H.E.), Physical Education (P.E.) and Civic, Social and Political Education (C.P.S.E.).
Sept 2019 – The new Specifications for Religion and Technical Graphics are being introduced
All subjects will have 2 Classroom Based Assessments, usually one in 2nd year and one in 3rd year. The results of these assessments will be reported on the Junior Cycle Profile of Achievement.
After the 2nd Classroom Based Assessment, students complete an Assessment Task which is worth 10% of their final exam.
Students sit final exams at the end of 3rd year. Irish English and Maths papers can be taken at higher or ordinary level.
All other subjects have papers at a common level.
