SciFest
Introduction
Scifest is a local one-day science fair held in third-level colleges (DKIT) and open to all students in our school. The fair includes a competition and exhibition of projects, science talks and demonstrations in the laboratory and a prize-giving ceremony. The idea of the competition is to encourage a love of science through an inquiry and investigative approach to learning as well as providing an opportunity for students to display and talk about their findings.
Scifest is jointly funded by Intel and Discover Science and Engineering and a number of other partners. In each venue students compete for a number of awards; Intel Best Project Award, Abbott Runner-Up Best Project Award, BT Best Communicator Award and the Discover Sensors Award.
