2nd Year A Basketball Team Secure Final Spot

2nd Year A Team

With the 1st and 2nd Year basketball leagues near completion date, three teams were in action during the week.  The 2nd Year B side, playing in Division 2, took on Dominican College, Griffith Avenue on home soil.  The girls got a great start, Queen Agunloye scoring 7 of her teams 11 points in the 1st quarter.  Dominican managed 4 points in this quarter but failed to register a score in the next one.  Captain, Leisha Archbold, once again leading from the front, scoring both from open play and the free throw line.  The team lead 20-4 by the half time break.  Emily Fitzpatrick and Sophie McNally were fighting it out in the second half for scores, McNally running the floor and Fitzpatrick rebounding strongly.  Dominican had no reply and the victory went to the Boynesiders, 38-9.  This now solidifies them firmly at the top of their section, and a guaranteed spot in the semi-finals.
